Skype Improves Voicemail
Skype just came out with new voicemail features that will keep users from missing calls. Once activated, all unanswered Skype calls will be sent to voicemail, and you can listen to your messages when you sign in on Skype or when you use Skype To Go.
Two new features will also keep you from missing important messages. Through Skype’s partnership with SpinVox, Skype can convert voicemail to text and send it to you as SMS to read – whether it’s in English, Spanish, German, or French! Unfortunately, this feature is not for free; the voicemail to SMS conversaion costs about €0.20/£0.17/$0.25, depending on the length of the message. You can also set up your SMS or email voicemail alerts to let you know if you have any new voicemail messages. Unlike the voicemail-to-SMS feature, email alerts are free; SMS alerts, on the other hand, will be charged using Skype’s low SMS rates.
