FriendCaller: VoIP Made Easy

I know I’ve been posting a lot of Skype-related stories, and I hope this doesn’t give the impression that the VoIP game is over. Many start-ups still continue to provide VoIP services, and their share of the market keeps on growing. For instance, there’s FriendCaller, a free, browser-based click-to-call VoIP service developed by Germany-based company C2Call. FriendCaller users are growing by as much as 15,000 a day and as of this writing, there are 1.4 million users making around 250,000 calls a day.
FriendCaller’s free VoIP service is incredibly simple and easy to use. There’s no need to download a software or app; all you have to do is load up a 750 KB Java soft-client on your web browser. FriendCaller then gives you a special link that you can share through social networks or email. When your friends click on the link, they’ll be given the option to call you, even if they aren’t registered with the service. To make VoIP calls to mobile phones, however, you’ll need to create an account and pay for the calls. If you’re calling from the US, a phone call to foreign countries will cost about 2 cents a minute.
FriendCaller also has apps for the iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, Facebook, and iPad. Try out the service for free at friendcaller.com.
