Skype for the iPhone

Many iPhone users are dying to know when Skype will be available for what is arguably one of the most popular mobile phones today. There’s already a Skype version out for Pocket PC Windows Mobile phones, but nothing for the iPhone or even the Blackberry. In an interview with the new Skype CEO Josh Silverman, GigaOm asked the million dollar question: “When will there be a Skype application for the iPhone?” The answer was no more revealing nor informative than a “stay tuned.”
Silverman talks at length about how Skype has reached their fifth year of development, what has happened ever since he became the CEO of the company six months ago, and how Skype has about 6% of the world’s intenrational calling mass. He discusses their mobile phone opportunities and the phenomenal sucess they’re having with the Skype Pocket PC software (over 7 million downloads). No doubt they’re very excited about selling the app to Apple very soon.
