Fring Places Trial Ads on Mobile Chat and VoIP Apps

Fring is finally starting something they should have done a long time ago if they wanted to make money: advertisements.
In case you don’t know what Fring is, it’s a VoIP service provider that works on the iPhone or other mobile phones that runs Symbian and Windows Mobile. It has technology that allows users to make free calls over Skype, Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger, and the Fring service itself. Up until today, the chat service had absolutely no ads, but Fring will now start putting banner display ads starting with randomly selected users.
The clickable ad banners will start appearing on the Fring chat window, below the chat box itself. If you click the ad, it will open on the browser and bring you to the advertiser’s site where you can find cool promos, special offers, and other surprises. More clicks will make the advertisers happy, and happy advertisers will give Fring more the resources to develop new features for their users.
So if you see Fring ads appear on your chat window, do give them a click from time to time. What I really like about Fring is that they make the extra effort to keep the cost of calling as low as they can. The ads might look a bit unsightly but this helps them make up for their revenues.
