Skype Screen Sharing Comes to Mac

Good news for Skype and Mac users! Skype Beta 2.8 is now available for the Mac, and offers two exciting new features: Screen Sharing and Skype Access, which allows WiFi access for a MacBook or MacBook Pro.

Screen sharing is a feature you can use through the Skype Video Channel, and what it does is that it allows a complete view of a participant’s screen. Macs can only act as a source as of now, but Windows or Linux machines can view its screen. File transfer is also available, but Skype did not give too many details about this.

The other feature, Skype Access, offers WiFi access to MacBooks and MacBook Pros through any Boingo access point, including McDonald’s, the Marriott and the Hilton, and over 500 international airports. Skype Access costs $0.22 per minute using Skype Credits.

The new Windows beta (4.1) has the screen sharing feature too. I started using it this week and it works well. Great new feature!
