Skype Goes Mobile: Skype Lite and Skype for Windows Mobile

POSTED BY lauren on Dec 11 under VoIP in the News with 940 views

A few days ago, Skype finally announced that they have two new beta clients out for mobile phones: Skype Lite (the renamed Skype for Mobile) and Skype for Windows Mobile 2.5 beta. The new beta version of Skype for Windows Mobile provides Windows Mobile smartphone users with improved call quality and more stable connections. Skype Lite, however, allows any mobile phone user to make Skype calls to their contacts from their mobile phones for the cost of a local call. Its previous version, Skype for Mobile beta, could only support a few smartphones like the Nokia N95. Skype Lite works for over 90 Java-capable cellphones that have basic data and web browser capabilities. The low cost calls to Skype contacts only applies when you’re making the call from your home country; otherwise, you might have to pay roaming charges.
