New iPod Touch and Classic Has Microphone Support

Steve Jobs announced the specs of the next generation of iPods and the new iPod touch includes built-in speakers and hardware volume controls (I have no idea why they didn’t think of including those to begin with). What Steve Jobs forgot to mention is that the iPod Touch can also support a mic through the new Apple headphones. The new Apple in-ear headphones, which will sell for $79, and the traditional Apple earphones with a mic, are microphone devices that are supported by the new iPod Touch and the 120GB iPod Classic. This is great news for previous iPod touch users, who had to trouble themselves hacking together an external mic they could use for Skype and other VoIP applications. And this is even better news for those who absolutely must have their VoIP with them wherever they go.
