Adobe ConnectNow

Adobe’s taking over the internet! They recently launched their own version of an online office suite at Acrobat.com, and it’s got its own PDF converter, word processor (Buzzword), online file sharing (Share), file storage (My Files), and web conferencing application (ConnectNow).
ConnectNow is basically a lighter version of the services offered by Microsoft Office Live Meeting and WebEx. This online web conference application is targeted at small business and individual professionals. Users can hold live meetings online and do screen sharing, white boards, video conferencing, and VoIP. Participants in the conference can be given roles at any point in the meeting, and the assigned roles give them the ability to make notes and share the screen with other members. Because the application already has audio integrated on it, individual users and companies can save money on teleconference bills. But you can also use traditional teleconferencing through Adobe’s Vapps voice conference service, and pay only the long distance rates.
The drawback to using to ConnectNow is that only three people can be on the service at the same time, which doesn’t make it a very good alternative for a company’s web conferencing solution. Still, a paid version of Acrobat.com’s services will be released in the future, and will probably include more affordable, business-friendly features.
