Fring’s iPhone and iPod Touch Chat Service

Fring is a company that’s been working on chat and cheap calling apps for iPhone, Symbian, and Windows Mobile. Lately they’ve received a torrent of good feedback from iPod Touch users who have been using the iPhone’s pre-relase version on the voiceless iPod Touch.
Fring also just released a new version for the iPhone that fixes a bug found when the application is used on the iPod Touch. But it turns out that the iPod Touch’s specifications were not considered when they designed the iPhone version. Thus, Fring IM on the iPod has these annoying little bugs - like how you can’t see the text you wrote until the message has already been sent. There’s a new update available through the Installer that should fix this, though. On the Fring blog is a video tutorial that reminds iPod Touch users that it’s a silent device. Because the iPod Touch has no built-in mic, Fring’s international VoIP service won’t work on iPod Touches. However, Fring for the iPod Touch can be used as a cross platform IM service. It looks like iPod Touch users will be more than happy if Fring were to succeed in giving the iPod touch a microphone application or something.
